Amazing Opportunities

by Ali Rivera, 1910 PR associate

I had not heard of 1910 PR until I was recommended to it in the fall by a professor. I had no idea what I was walking into, in all honesty, but I welcomed the opportunity to participate in something new to me. In the end, I am proud to say that I have learned a lot, and I know that the skills I have learned are valuable for the future.

I was assigned to work on the Department of Communication account, and I was honestly very excited. I had somewhat of an idea of how to run social media, but I learned more about how to structure posts, create a content calendar, and make a client report as well. I was happy to share new ideas and bring life into the Department of Communication social media accounts.

I never thought of the informational side of managing social media or. using Mailchimp or adding events to local event calendars. I did not know how important it was to know how to do those types of things. I think those were very valuable pieces of information that I don’t think I would’ve ever gotten without 1910 PR.

I also got to meet and work with people that I had never come across, including students that don’t live here. Opening up classes to Zoom has brought new opportunities, like being able to work with those that could not physically attend our meetings. I thought that was something unique to this class, and I appreciate the time I spent with the team.
